Location, setting.
Pool closed, no continental breakfast, smelly.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past for a family reunion and it was ok. This trip there was remodeling forcing us to take a round about way to get to the lobby and still walking through construction. The room overlooked a puddle of green nasty water instead of cool blue water in the pool. The upstairs hall and room reeked. I felt ripped off for the money I spent for a room there this time. Stayed in two other hotels this trip and both were much better value. ...read more

The location was on top of a hill, facing some beautiful scenery.
We got a non smoking room which smelled like smoke.

Besides the non smoking room smelling like smoke, one thing I didn't like was the fact that our room was near the swimming pool some people were very loud with their music, talking, and their drinking. Our dog is very protective of us and barks if he thinks something is wrong so with that said we had to continually tell him to be quiet while the noise was going on outside our window, plus we had to turn our TV up just so we could hear the programs we were watching. Finally the management was called and they did quiet down to where we could go to sleep. ...read more

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. We were only there for a short while, the room was very clean, it had a king size bed that was very nice.

Friendly staff.
Too firm of a mattress, bathroom fixtures shoddy.

Friendly staff but accommodations were cheap.

When I arrived at 8:45 p.m. I tried to reach room service. After 15 minutes of calling and getting no answer, I called the front desk. The friendly young woman said she would have someone from room service call me immediately. I never received a call from room service and was unable to get a meal. I will not stay at this facility again.

Staff was well trained and friendly.
Food preparation was questionable. Potato soup was mashed potatoes in a cup.

Just fine. Thought the potato soup incident somewhat funny.

Parking lot being prepared to be paved. Had to walk way too far with luggage. Left my pillow and said they would return to me and didn't.

It has a great view and friendly staff.
The bathroom was dingy and needed cleaning.

Holiday on the Hill is probably the best you'll find in Bluefield. It's got a view, a nice cafe, and very friendly staff. The only thing it lacked was regular size pillows, curtains that shut all the way, and a clean bathroom. Curtains and bathroom was a major thing for us. ...read more

Very nice looking.
The bed looked like it had been slept in and something dark had been dripped along the box springs. Mold in shower.

At first glance the room looked nice but the pillowslips had stains like someone had used them and the one bed had sheets that appeared to have been used. The shower had mold and dirt. I did not want to use it. ...read more
